To help raise money for pancreatic cancer research
Taking place on Saturday, August 20, the Cypress Challenge is a fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer Research, in memory of Jack Poole.
Pancreatic cancer has the lowest survival rate of all cancers. With so few survivors to advocate and raise funds, we have dedicated this year’s Cypress Challenge to the memory of Jack Poole. Jack, the man responsible for bringing the Olympic Games to Vancouver, died of Pancreatic Cancer in October 2009 just a few months shy of seeing his Olympic dream fulfilled. He was a man of great spirit, drive and determination and his commitment to the community and to the public good was something he highly valued.
Once again our 12 km hill climb up Cypress is open to everyone with a bike, a helmet and the determination to pedal up the mountain. This year the event will have 12 different ride categories to ensure riders of all ages and abilities enjoy the event.
