Transrockies Team Summaries
Posted: Aug 27 2006
As the 5th edition of the epic Transrockies Challenge came to a close, both Different Bikes – supported teams emerged successful if not a bit tired and sore!
Ron and Rob endured a tough race that included injuries and very long days. However, they overcame these as well as the wet, muddy and cold conditions of some of the stages to arrive in Panorama for the finish.
Best of all, Ron (a cancer survivor himself, picture here with his finisher medal) raised over $5000 for cancer research! Great job guys.
Rich and Mike found themselves from day 1 in a race for the podium in the very competitive 80+ category (combined age of the team > 80). They stayed strong and consistent throughout the 7 stages and managed to hold 3rd place in the category from start to finish! Great race guys! As a side note, Mike was actually using this race as a training (?!) event for Ironman Canada only 2 weeks later. It seemed to work as Mike not only completed Ironman, he did it in just over 10 hours and placed in the top 100 overall!
We look forward to supporting deserving or unique teams in next year’s TransRockies, contact us if you think your team is right to join us.
