Ride to Conquer Cancer
Team OvCaRe
Different Bikes has had the pleasure to work with team OvCaRe for the past three years that they have participated in the BC Ride to Conquer Cancer. Team OvCaRe is made up of people with one common goal: the desire to make a difference in the lives of those suffering with ovarian cancer. Not only do the OvCaRe group of researchers and clinicians work tirelessly to improve outcomes for ovarian cancer patients through the amazing work that they do, they’re also members of the cycling team!
Different Bikes wanted to give this hardworking team a kick-start on their fundraising goals for 2012. With a very healthy amount raised in 2011 of $76,810, their goal for 2012 is $90,000.
Team OvCaRe boasts some of the “founding fathers” amongst the ranks: Drs. Blake Gilks, David Huntsman and Dianne Miller. Riders also include other researchers, PhD students, laboratory technologists, ovarian cancer survivors and most importantly of all, caring citizens from the community at large.
The team worked tirelessly to raise money for the advances made possible by the OvCaRe group of researchers and clinicians and also trained their buns off in preparation for the ride itself, a two day cycling journey from Vancouver, BC to Seattle Washington covering a distance of approximately 250km.
