Great young rider working hard for success
Posted: May 01 2006
Graeme Bant is a very promising young rider from right here in West Vancouver who is looking for national level success in the future!
Graeme has been racing on a bike since he was only 11 – and now at 16, he is a first-year Junior-level racer. He is primarily focused on road events where he will race Cat 3, but also plans to race as many Junior Expert cross-country races as he can fit into his busy road schedule.
Graeme’s season includes competing in both Road and Cross-country races at Sea Otter in California in April and the Road Nationals and Track Nationals in Quebec in July. Graeme hopes to be chosen for the BC Junior team this season to compete at the one week long Abitibi International Junior Road Stage Race, also held in Quebec. Graeme will take advantage of the great local road racing in Abbotsford, Langley, and Mission.
He’s been a staple at the North Shore High School Mountain Bike series, handily winning overall titles in Grade 8 and 9. Last year in Grade 10 other cycling commitments kept Graeme away from the local races, however this year as a Grade 11 Senior, Graeme hopes to again race as many as possible. Some of Graeme’s results from 2005 were:
- 1st , Short Track Cross-Country, Sea Otter, California, Under 17
- 1st place overall Comox Valley Junior Stage Race, Under 17
- 2nd place, Bear Mountain BC Cup Cross Country, Under 17.
Join us in wishing Graeme well and keep up-to-date on the results that he and the rest of the team post right here
