Celebration Ride To Conquer Cancer

Posted: Oct 17 2011

With clear skies, it was a very chilly morning (3 degrees Celsius) this past Sunday when we arrived on-site the the sign-in/starting location of the Vancouver Celebration Ride to Conquer Cancer. But that didn't stop the large number of people that came out to enjoy the day!

Participants had the choice of two distances, 38km and 50km. The start was at the Kensington Park Arena in Burnaby and the route went out to Port Moody (Belcarra for the longer route). The pit stop, located about 6km from the turnaround at Belcarra (Loco & 1st Ave, Port Moody) was the turnaround for the shorter route.

Different Bikes was onsite to provide mechanical support and it was a pleasure helping out such an amazing group of people riding for such a great cause!

For some, the ride was a kick start to their training for the 2012 Ride To Conquer Cancer, a chance to get their team back together and continue to foster the enthusiasm for next year's ride. Many have already started fundraising and are well on their way to a very successful 2012!

Participants were encouraged to bring a guest, someone that may not have done the ride this year or have much riding experience at all. For these people, getting to the pit stop was a great accomplishment and it was fantastic to see!

Lots of tires to pump up! A perfect way to keep warm on a chilly morning!
