I hadn't really planned on buying a jacket when I dropped into the West Van store, I was there for other things, but I spotted the oddly named Gore Tool Windstopper jacket and noticed it appeared to have very long arms as it was hanging on the rack. Having semi-simian arm proportions, this prompted me to try it on. The XL was a perfect fit, the first cool weather cycling jacket I've tried that had adequate length sleeves in the stretched out XC riding position, and it had the comfortably bent elbows designed in. Since we had a dry, cool and sunny day, it was the perfect chance to try it.
Nice length, with the extra long back to keep the lower back warm, it felt really good on the bike with no scrunchies or tight spots in the fit. Enough room under it for a Polartec 100 vest for a bit of added warmth in the shade. It does breathe much better than my ballistic nylon NSMBA jacket. Nice neck closure with a comfy littley cover to keep the zipper from digging into your throat.
Not being Gore-Tex, it is only a moisture resistant soft shell, but the Wind Stopper really works, and is perfect for these cool cycling days and is really comfortable and has all the flexibility you want for XC off road riding. Try one on, you just might find it hits the mark for you too.
