About Peak Centre
The Peak Centre for Human Performance is Canada's largest private sport science organization and specializes in testing and training athletes of all levels. The heart of the Peak Centre for Human Performance is the Human Performance Laboratory. Our mission is to provide leading-edge human performance services to all individuals through direct physiological assessments. As a physician would diagnose a health condition, we diagnose physiological needs for improved human performance. Whether for rehabilitation, general fitness, Olympic athletes, weight loss or occupational needs, the Peak Centre has the scientific tools to determine the exact needs of the individual and prescribe specific solutions.
The Peak Centre began back in the late 1980’s when a group of Professors of Exercise Physiology from the University of Ottawa developed a program to identify better ways to test and train our National Teams. Over the years, Peak has expanded and grown and we now have a number of locations across the country including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver. We are the largest sport science organization in the country outside of our national sport system. The West Vancouver location will join our Burnaby location which opened its doors in late 2005.
The Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology (CSEP) have accredited the Peak Centre for Human Performance as an Accredited Fitness Appraisal Centre. This designation is held by only six organizations and universities in the province and is reserved for those who provide the highest level of training and fitness testing available in Canada. The Peak Centre has held this designation since our inception in 2005.
