2010 Gran Fondo - Amazing!

The first annual RBC Gran Fondo Whistler is in the history books! And what a great event it was, especially considering it was a "first time" event.

Different Bikes was there - in many ways!

• 2 of our 4 store managers completed the Fondo, along with the manager of our upcoming DB spin studio!
• All 5 of our main ownership group completed the Fondo
• many dozens of our friends, family, customers and supporters were riding, cheering or involved

The weather cooperated - cool but no precipitation with some sunny breaks, including a beautiful sunrise as the 4000 riders were crossing the closed-to-traffic Lion's Gate Bridge - a very unique experience.

Countless volunteers and traffic control people did an incredible job in the complex task of creating a dedicated bike lane for over 100km of busy road, as well as providing food and technical support over the length of the course.

Whistler and the organizers provided a large and effective venue for the post race gathering and celebration - what was a parking lot became restaurant, band stage, beer garden and meeting for thousands of friends and family to share their experiences.

Given our experiences throughout the day of meeting new people, working together to pace toward the finish and sharing stories and adventures afterwards of our own unique 120km journey, we're convinced this event will be discussed amongst those who were there for months to come.

For those of us with a passion for cycling, it was an incredible sight and experience to be part of - 4000 riders truly enjoying the ride and all of iits challenges and rewards.
